Tom Cooper is the Managing Director and Principal of Green roof Solutions, Inc. of Glenview, Il. The company was created to manufacture and supply components for green roofing in the United States using locally sourced materials and domestic labor. Prior to joining Green Roof Solutions, Mr. Cooper was a consultant to the Merchant's Exchange, a CFTC designated market for trading commodities and derivatives. He lived in London for ten years where he managed a private company that traded in currencies and commodities such as Indexes on energy, interest rates and carbon credits. He first was exposed to green roofing as a building practice while on a business trip to Frankfurt, Germany. Germany has the most mature market for green roofing and his company has modeled the methodology and standards of the German Landscape Society to provide value for clients of Green Roof Solutions, Inc. while reducing the carbon impact of shipping materials from overseas.
Tom is a Chicago native and studied Theology at Niles Seminary before transferring to complete his studies in English Literature at the Loyola University Chicago where he now resides.
