Joseph M. Leone is a partner with the Indianapolis law firm of DREWRY SIMMONS VORNEHM, LLP practicing in the area of construction law, mechanic's liens, and public contract law and litigation. Mr. Leone is a graduate of Purdue University with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and of Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. Prior to becoming a practicing attorney, Mr. Leone was employed for seven (7) years by the Indianapolis based general contractor/construction manager Geupel DeMars, Inc. as a project engineer and project manager. Mr. Leone has been a frequent lecturer on construction law topics including, "Indiana Mechanic's Lien Law", "Construction Management/Design Build in Indiana", "Construction Litigation", "Purchasing and Procurement Law in Indiana", and "Design Law for Indiana Architects and Engineers"; and was co-author of "Rewriting a Builder's Risk Policy? – The Intersection of a Builder's Risk Policy and Construction Project Contracts" Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana 2005 and co-author of the Indiana Chapter in State by State Guide to Architect, Engineer, and Contractor Licensing, Aspen Law & Business © 1999. He is Chairman-elect of the Construction and Surety Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association and is a member of the American Bar Association's Public Contract Law Section and its Forum Committee on the Construction Industry. He is also active in the Indiana Construction Association and ACG of America, and is an associate member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
